DR, the Danish national broadcaster and the host broadcaster of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, have unveiled the 2 hosts who will keep track of all of the press conferences during the Eurovision season this coming May.

Ulla Essendrop, born in 1976, was a host for DR Sport and was the host of the Head of Delegation meeting earlier this year in March. Ulla, along with Abdel Aziz Mahmoud, will host the press conferences in Copenhagen in the coming weeks where they will keep track of between 1,500 – 2,000 journalists during the Eurovision season. Along with that, they will also be hosting more than 80 press conferences in connection with the contest. Abdel, born in 1983, is a trained journalist who currently hosts the DR2 show Søndag Live.

Talking about the upcoming press conferences in Copenhagen, Ulla stated:

Press meetings should be allowed to develop themselves. We’re not going to stand and ask participants ten questions if the press is in the room and have everything they want to ask.

Abdel went on to comment:

[This will] show Denmark at its best. And it has to do with everything from set design of the show and to the hosts and content. Ulla and I will also need to show what the best is in Denmark, and it is among other things that one has to ask and talk and ask questions.

Whilst the duo know that it’ll be a big task to keep track and moderate the press conferences, the hosts are also looking forward to finding out more about the artists including background information, fun facts and anything else regarding the 37 competing artists according to dr.dkI think it will be the largest and longest party I’ve ever been to! says Abdel.

This year, the Eurovision Song Contest will be hosted in the Danish capital Copenhagen at the B&W Hallerne. Earlier this month, DR unveiled some teasers in regard to this year’s Eurovision stage. You can read more about the stage designs here.
