Tonight, the Lithuanian national broadcaster, LRT, will be airing a special good luck concert in order to raise support for their entrant Vilija Matačiūnaitė.

The show will see Vilija and a number of other musicians performing during the night, as the broadcaster tries to raise funds for their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen.

The good luck concert has become a tradition in Lithuania, having first being introduced six years ago to support their entrant in the 2009 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, Sasha Son.

The money raised during the concert will be put towards the staging of their entry, the effects used and the styling.

Artists who have already been confirmed for the concert include Viktoras Diawara, Ruslanas Kirilkinas and Sasha Son, with many more to perform alongside Lithuania’s Eurovision Song Contest 2014 contestant.

2014 marks 20 years of Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest, with the country having made their debut in 1994.
They are yet to win the contest in that time, but their best result came at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 where LT United achieved a sixth place finish in Athens.

After a lengthy national final selection, Vilija was chosen as their representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the song Attention. She will compete in the first half of the second semi-final this May, hoping to keep up Lithuania’s run of reaching the final in each of the last three years. You can see her entry below.
