Romania plagiarism allegations

TVR has set up a special commission to investigate multiple allegations of plagiarism in this year's Romanian national selection. Four songs are said to be involved–though these are only allegations at this point.

Romanian national selection rules stipuates that songs performed during the selection must not have been edited on any audio or video support or broadcasted on any radio or TV channel prior to October 1, 2006.

Four songs are to reviewed by a special commission set up by TVR:

Andra & Simplu – Dracula, my love

New Effect featuring Moni-K – Sinada

Locomondo – Liubi, Liubi, I love you

Rednex featuring Ro-Mania – Well-o-wee

On monday the special commission will analyze the allegations against each song/performer. With the final less than a week away any decisions to disqualify any of the songs would have to be taken very quickly–particularly if TVR wants to bring in lower-placed songs from either semi-final to fill in.

The stakes are quite high, since Romania has automatically qualified for the final thanks to Mihai Trăistariu's 4th place finish in Athens with Tornero.
