3 songs change in Bulgaria

3 songs from the Bulgarian national selection, which were announced 2 days ago, have changed for various reasons, as confirmed by Bulgarian broadcaster BNT earlier today.

Irish singer Una Healy, who was a backing singer for Brian Kennedy, was set to participate with the song Too late for heartache. However, due to prior engagements, she would have been unable to compete on the designated date of the semifinal, the 3rd February, and therefore has withdrawn.

As ESCtoday reported earlier today, the song Az mora, submitted by Pippo & Sashato, is a cover of the Israeli song Ani yachol, by the group Subliminal. Pippo & Sashato have been disqualified for this reason.

Teddy ft MC Chriss has dropped MC Chriss for the Bulgarian final, and her song, previously announced to be Lyubovta e svoboda, will now be sung in English as Super fire. Teddy will compete under her full name, Teddy Karetsova.

To replace Una Healy and Pippo & Sashato we have 2 new songs:

  • Toni Dimitrova & Goresh Pysak – Say you would
  • Galin Raychev – V ochakvane

The Bulgarian semi final will take place in Sofia on the 3rd February, with the top 9 songs, as decided by televoting, going on to the final along with 3 specially commissioned 'wildcards' by more established Bulgarian artists.

Due to Mariana Popova's failure to qualify in Athens, whoever represents Bulgaria in Helsinki will have to start in the semi final.
