RTCG confirms National Selection

RTCG, the Montenegrin broadcaster, confirmed earlier this week that the country's representative in Helsinki will be chosen through a National Final rather than internal selection. In a change to the previous title, which had been Montevizija 2007, they have decided to go with an anglicised name, and the competition will now be called Montenegrosong 2007. The rules and regulations for the submission of the songs have also been announced. And now include a national selection of artist and song, although that is dependent on the quality of each and by no means certain at this point.

The broadcaster, in a change to its previously published decision, has movetowards a national final to select the singer as well as the song. The finalis scheduledtake place on February 25th and the winning song will be selected by televoting, but will only happen if there are enough entries to make it viable. Previously, they had planned to select the participant internally and hold a selection show for the public to select the song.

A special jury will select ten participants with their songs will make it to the final. All authors and composers must be citizens of the Republic of Montenegro and the deadline for the submission of the songs is February 9th.

The songs will be presented in a series of special shows by RTCG and prior to that, any song made public before (in any form) will be automatically disqualified. The final, should it take place, will be broadcast on national and satellite stations and via webcast on the internet.

Should the quality of theentrantsnot meets the required standard to represent the small new republic at the Eurovision Song Contest, or if there are not enough entries to create a national final, RTCG reserve the right to cancel the final and return to the plan for an internal selection of the artist, and / or the song.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
