1980’s

During the 1980’s Cyprus had a mixture of results by placing in the top ten on three occasions (1981, 1982 and 1987) and placing last in 1986 with only 4 points.

In 1982 Anna Vissi placed in 5th with the song Mono i agapi which was one of three highest places for Cyprus during their 31 years in the contest.

In 1984 Cyprus’s song Anna Maria Lena was directed by the famous British song writing and record producing trio Stock, Aitken and Waterman and sang by Cyprus pop singer Andy Paul. Sadly the song did not place very high by placing 15th with 31 points.

Cyprus made a Eurovision record by becoming the second ever country to send two sisters to the contest in different years (Anna Vissi and Lia Vissi).
