Bob Alison, one half of the duo The Allisons has died aged 72. He and his band mate John Allison, are best known for representing the UK at the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest.
The Allisons represented the UK with Are you sure? and came second. The 1961 winner was Jean Claude Pascal with Nous les amoureux for Luxembourg.
The UK 1961 entry proved successful in the charts where it reached number 2. In total it spent 14 weeks in the top 40. With other a million sales the song achieved gold disc status.
2009 UK composer Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber was a fan of The Allisons and listed Are you sure? as the best Eurovision song ever.
