LTV, the national Latvian broadcaster has received a total of 73 songs for the 2014 Latvian Eurovision national selection, Dziesma 2014.
The Latvian broadcaster will now evaluate all the received entries and shortlist them to a total of 24 entries that will battle in the 2 semifinals (12 songs in each semifinal). 60 of the entries are in English, 11 are in Latvian, 1 in Russian and 1 in 1 in French. The period for artists to submit their entries in order to represent Latvia at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest concluded today.
The 2014 Latvian national selection Dziesma 2014 will consist of 3 shows: 2 semifinals on February 1- 2 and the grand final on February 22. The semifinals will be held in Riga whilst the grand final will be held in Ventspils.
Latvia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 and has won the event in 2002 with Marie N‘s I wanna. Latvia has competed in every single contest since its debut in 2000. 2014 will be the country’s 15th Eurovision entry.
