esctoday.com has discovered this afternoon that Zdob si Zdub, runner-up in the internal selection for the Moldovan Eurovision Song Contest participant have obviously violated the rules after all: Although the length of their song was not a problem, Space Cowboys was already performed in August 2006 during the Rosklide festival as Hora cosmica which means Space dance.

You can watch the Roksilde festival performance here and listen to the version submitted for the national final on TRM's official website here. Although the arrangement is a bit different, it is more than obvious that it is the same song. According to the European Broadcasting Union, entries for the Eurovision Song Contest are not allowed to have been released or performed publicly before 1st October 2006. The video on youtube, confirming the performance of the song was uploaded to the website on 17th July 2006, clearly violating a rule that led to three songs in Belarus being discounted from their selection procedure already.

Earlier today, it has been announced that Natalia Barbu will represent Moldova in Helsinki with the song Fight. Due to a 20th position in 2006, achieved by Arsenium feat. Natalia Gordienko and Connect-R, she will have to enter the semi final.
