Switzerland decided: As broadcaster SF DRS confirmed today, famous Swiss singer DJ Bobo will represent his country in Helsinki. The jury, consisting of representatives of the TV channels SF, TSR, TSI and VIVA Schweiz chose concordantly the eurodance star's song out of more than 60 submitted entries. At the moment, it is not sure when the song will be presented for the first time, but the CD and video are going to be produced in January and the world premiere will be most likely in February during a very special event.

Dj Bobo (René Baumann) is one of the most succesful Swiss singers ever: He held concerts in 44 countries, appeared in countless TV shows, sold more than 13 million records and has received about 80 music awards. You can watch the video of Chihuahua, one of his most succesful songs, at the end of the page.

The singer told that he is looking forward to his song contest appearance but he is 'aware that his participation might be a flop too. But this fear should not play an important role'. After Dervish for Ireland and Sopho Khalvashi for Georgia, Switzerland is the third country that announced their singer for Helsinki but not the song.

After a third place in 1993 with Annie Cotton's Moi, tout simplement, Switzerland achieved a series ofpoor results over twelve years, including two last places with 'nil points' in 1998 and in the 2004 semi final. In 2005, Switzerland reached the top 10 again: Estonian Vanilla Ninja finished 8th in the final round with Cool vibes. Nevertheless, in Athens the multinational group six4one only achieveda 16th place with Ralph Siegel's and Bernd Menunger's If we all give a little. Therefore, Switzerland will have to participate in the semi final in 2007.
