Estonia: Eesti Laul song submission kicks off

ERR, the Estonian national broadcaster has released the rules and regulations for the 2014 Estonian Eurovision national selection Eesti Laul. Artists, composers wishing to compete in the competition can do so by sending in their applications to the Estonian broadcaster until 9 December.

A total of 20 acts/songs will be selected by a special jury pannel and the names of the lucky contenders will be announced on 13 December. 10 acts will compete in each of seminifinal, qualifiers from each semifinal will then compete for the golden ticket to Copenhagen in the grand final.

Last month ERR, the Estonian national broadcaster  confirmed to esctoday.com that the 2014 Estonia national final will be held on March 1, 2014. The method and mechanism to select the 2014 Estonian entry will be the same as in previous years Eesti Laul consisting of 2 semifinals and a final.

EER had confirmed to esctoday.com its participation at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest last July.

The 2014 Estonian national selection Eesti Laul will be held on 14 and 21 February ( Semifinals) and 1 March (Final).

Estonia selected their 2013 Eurovision entry via a national selection consisting of 2 semifinals and a final- Eesti Laul. Birgit Oigemeel represented Estonia at 2013 the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo with Et uus saaks alguse achieving a 20th place in the final.

Estonia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with Silvi Vrait and won the event in 2001 in Copenhagen with Tanel Padar’s and Dave Benton’s Eveybody.
