Nearly twenty-two whole years after the 1985 Eurovision Song Contest, the original choice for the Belgian entry that never actually made it was aired on Belgian TV for the first time.

The song is Vannacht (Tonight), written by Frédéric Devreese and Hugo Claus and had it been sent to Göteborg, it would have been performed by Flemish opera singer Mireille Capelle.

So after almost a quarter of a century it was finally publicly performed by the Flemish Radio Orchestra, during the Klara Music Awards where Frédéric Devreese was presented withLifetime Achievement Award. BRT, at the time, the broadcasterresponsible for Belgium's entry, thought that it was ‘too heavy’ for the style of the Eurovision Song Contest and sent Linda Lepomme with Laat me nu gaan , a ballad that ended up last with 9 points.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
