Former Eurovision Song Contest participant Ruth Jacott, and Paul de Leeuw, the Dutch spokesman during the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest 2006 will sing the national anthems of England and The Netherlands preceding the friendly soccer game coming wednesday between both countries.

Ruth Jacott, who represented The Netherlandsduring the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest with the songVrede (6th place), will sing The British nationalanthem 'God Save The Queen.' On the other hand, Paul de Leeuw will perform the Dutch national anthem, the 'Wilhelmus.'

It isn't the first time the two will work together. Back in 1993, Paul de Leeuw was the host of The Dutch National Final. Right after The Eurovision Songcontest Paul de Leeuw interviewed Ruth by telephonein his programmeand they sang a duet 'Blijf Bij Mij', one of her other songs from the Dutch preselection that same year. The song became a big hit, even bigger than 'Vrede'.

The Eurovision Songcontest became the break through of Ruth jacott. She still is one of the most famous artists in The Netherlands. At the moment, Ruth isfinishing a new album with salsa influences. Next to that, she will startthe second season of her successful tour 'A Touch of latin' soon again.

Paul de leeuw is a famous Dutch tv host. He is also well known as a Eurovision Song Contest fan, andthis year he was the Dutch spokesman. His way of announcing the votes caused biglaughter in the audience. However, some weren't amused by his sense of humour. Hewas the only spokesman who announced the points in full, which was against the new rules of only speaking out loud 8, 10 and 12 points, making himself a hero to many fans of the competition!
