YLE to launch own Eurovision site

Today, Finnish broadcaster and hosts of the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest will launch an updated version of their Eurovision Song Contest site, with versions in native Finnish, English, and Swedish (Finland's second language).

This news is interesting because the EBU's official site, eurovision.tv is supposed to be working together with host broadcasters to create one official site. This is the process which has been adopted for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year in Romania.

The EBU and host Romanian broadcaster, TVR, are working in close co-operation to create a fan's atmosphere online for those who want to get to the event but can't join the performers and fans in Bucharest.

Escfinland.eu report that "YLE will open a first version of their new-look, three language website tomorrow November 8th, as the artists taking part in the Finnish National final are revealed. They promise to impove the contents as the Eurovision event of May 2007 approaches".

It would appear that YLE seem tobe planning a site to run indpendently ofeurovision.tv,the EBU's official web presence for the Eurovision Song Contest. It therefore seems that there will be an official Eurovision Song Contest site along side the host broadcaster's site in the run-up to and beyond the 2007Eurovision Song Contest.
