AvroTros, the Dutch  broadcaster has confirmed to esctoday.com that The Netherlands will participate at the forthcoming 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark. The method and mechanism to select the 2014 Dutch entry is yet to be determined and announced.

Dutch television channels TROS and AVRO will merge from January 1, 2014 and will be resposible to select the 2014 Dutch Eurovision entry. The broadcaster is yet to confirm the mechanism it will use to select their entry. In 2013 TROS opted for an internal selection when Anouk was invited to fly the Dutch flag in Malmo.

Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, San Marino, Albania, Ireland, Iceland and Belgium have all confirmed their participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest.

The Netherlands debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and is one of the founder members of our favourite television show. The country has won the event 4 times (1957, 1959, 1969 and 1975).

Anouk represented The Netherlands at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo with Birds, achieving a 9th place in the final.
