Helena Paparizou, the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest winner, is going from strength to strength with her career. Now back in Greece, Helena has signed a deal with mobile telephone producers, Nokia, to be their exclusive sponsor for the next year. In the mean time, the remixed 'My Number One' climbs another spot on the Billboard Hot Dance chart in the USA to number eight. And some welcome news for British fans too, Helena is at last receiving airplay in the United Kingdom!

During the official announcement ceremony, the president of Alpha Copy/NOKIA Mr. S.I Konstandinidis said: "We are particularly proud of this sponsorship, as Helena one of the most prominent young Greek artists, is also noted for her character and modesty… together we are certain we will bring young people 21st century music and sounds." More good news for Helena on the other side ofthe continent, whereAATW Records are managing the release of her smash hit single,Mambo. The song was a number one hit in Greece, Cyprus and reached 5th place on the Swedish chart in June, remaining there until last week. Esctoday spoke to Helena this week about the song's United Kingdom release and any plans for a trip to promote the song. She told us "Yeah, All Around The World are releasing the song, I hear the dance version has gone to the clubs already. I'll be coming to the United Kingdom this winter for sure. It's too early to say what I'll be doing there yet".

We also asked Helena about Sweden and whether she'd be coming to Helsinki in 2007 for the Eurovision Song Contest. She told us "Maybe I'll come to Finland for a trip.My god-daughter is actually half Finnish and half Greek, so Ihave a love forFinland. They have some beautiful rock concert venues and wild parties in Finland, so be careful!". So for fans hoping to see Helena at Melodifestivalen, it looks like you'll have to wait at least another year.

Moving further west, across the Atlantic, Helena is not comfortable in the official Billboard Hot Dance Chart in the United States of America. She has reached number 8 in her second week in the Top Ten with the remixed version of My Number One.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
