Ireland's 2006 Eurovision Song Contest representative Brian Kennedy is set to join fellow Eurovision star and former winner Linda Martin on a fundraising trip to Thailand.

The walking trip will last from 27th September to 8th October, and all funds will go to the Children to Lapland appeal, which aims to take more than 200 sick children on holiday to see Father Christmas.

Irish celebrity line-up
Each participant must raise at least £3,500 in order to take part, and the organisers are hoping to find more than 100 people to join them on the walk. Irish TV celebrity Alan Hughes is amongst the better-known names on the list, and more are hoped to follow as the team appeal for more volunteers.

Linda Martin competed at the Eurovision Song Contest for Ireland in 1984 and 1992, as well as appearing in numerous Irish selections. She was runner-up to Herreys in 1984 with Johnny Logan's Terminal 3, and sang Johnny's Why me? in 1992 to take the grand prix and form the writer's triple whammy of winners at Eurovision.
