Selma, who represented Iceland in 1999 with All out of luck and in 2005 with If I had your love, is in Athens to help Silvia Night with her choreography. In an exclusive backstage interview with eurovision.tv guest reporter Sietse Bakker, Selma spoke out about this year's Icelandic entrant and her future plans.
"I like the song very much", Selma explained when asking her about this year's entry. "It's catchy! Silvia is a controversial character and she goes a bit further than everyone else. I would love her to win and bring the contest to Iceland next year, but to be honest, I think the contest is more of a lottery". That raises the question of whether Selma would like to take part for a third time in the future. "My mother used to say, ‘Never say never’. But in this case I am quite sure". Quite sure? "Very sure!" Nevertheless, Selma looks back on her two Eurovision Song Contest appearances with great fondness and positive vibes.
Selma is currently focusing on a theatre career in Iceland. "I am just here to support Silvia behind the scenes and I must say I enjoy it, as it puts less pressure on me".
Selma still has a large fan base among Eurovision Song Contest fans and it seems she will not disappoint them while in Athens: "I will attend some parties and I am looking forward to meeting as many fans as I can. But, at the end of the day, it's all about Silvia now", she concluded.
