Greek composer and producer Nikko Patrelakis composed the theme music for this year's Eurovision Song Contest. The music will play during the introduction of the semifinal and final and has been recorded along with the Symphony Orchestra of host broadcaster ERT.
Although the orchestra disappeared from the contest after the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest, composers and producers often call for the assistance of an orchestra when they record the music for their entries. Patrelakis, composer of the Athens 2006 theme music, did the same. Conducted by Andreas Pylarinos, the ERT Symphony Orchestra recorded all music used during the show, besides the participating entries. The theme package includes the introduction theme, the postcard music and the closing sequence.
The 1968-born composer, producer and DJ released several albums in Greece and has a long track list when it comes to composing music.
