Tonight: Israeli Kdam-Eurovision in Jerusalem

Israel will hold its national final tonight, when the Kdam-Eurovision will be held in the IBA's studios in Jerusalem. 11 entries will compete to represent Israel in Athens.

Tonight, on 20:00 CET, IBA will broadcast the 2006 Kdam-Eurovision– the national final. After a series of scandals, withdrawals and setbacks, the contest will be broadcast from Jeruslalem. Yael Bar-Zohar and Eden Har'el will co-host the show. Helena Paprizou, last year's Eurovision Song Contest's winner, who was supposed to perform in the show, will not be present after all. Shiri Maymon, last year's Israeli entrant will perform her latest single Le'an shelo telhi. The show will also include a tribute to the late lyricst Ehud Manor, who wrote many Kdam and Israeli Eurovision Song Contest entries.

11 entries compete to represent Israel:

  • Aviva and Maya Avidan- Yalda sheli (My daughter)
  • Avi Peretz- Bu'o ve'nirkod (Let's dance)
  • Gameboys- Kama ahava (So much love)
  • Stalos and Oren Hen- Halom orientaly (Oriental dream)
  • Guy Harari- T'nu la'ahava (Let love)
  • Eddie Butler- Ze hazman (This is the time)
  • Tzipi Mash'hid- Tzipor stav (Autumn bird)
  • Tzvika Pick- Lifney she'nifradim (Before we break up)
  • Michael Kirkilan- Nishbar im haru'ach (Breaking with the wind)
  • The Diamondz- Ata hakochav (You are the star)

    All the songs are availale for listening on the IBA's Eurovision Song Contest's websie, Eurovil.

    The Diamondz and the Gameboys ar both highly tipped by Eurovision fans as potential winners. The winner will be selected by 4 regional juries, the audience in the studio and televoting divided into 4 regions in the country. Each vote will count for 10% of the total result. Israel is a direct qualifier to the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest's final in Athens, on May 20th, thanks to Shiri Maymon's 4th place last year.
