The Turkish broadcaster TRT announced its participant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006, which will be held in Athens (Greece), today. The 2004 host country will send Sibel Tüzün to Greece in May. “I am very eager to come up with a big show”, she said during a press conference. Sibel is determined to “make it to the top-3”.
Sibel started in TRT childrens choir in 1971 and studied classic music and opera. Later on she started to sing pop and rock.
Sibel Tüzün sang with Ajda Pekkan, who represented Turkey in 1980, and Nukhet Duru. In 1990 she also participated in the Turkish selection with Kime ne, where she came ninth.
Due to Gülseren's disappointing result in Kyiv, Sibel will have to compete in the semifinal of the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place on 18th May.
