18-year old Meri Voskanian, who didn't make it in the final rounds of the German version of Pop Idol, Deutschland sucht den Superstar, will represent her home country Armenia at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest. German and Armenian media reported that moments ago.

Robert Amirkhanian (66), president of the Armenian association for Composers, commented: “It is remarkable that Germany didn't recognise her potential”.

2006 will be the first time Armenia participates in the Eurovision Song Contest. So far, it is unknown which song she will sing in the semifinal in Athens on 18th May.
