A special programme about the preparations for the Swedish selection Melodifestivalen 2006 with a look back of the events during 2005 is broadcast tonight on Swedish television (SVT). During the programme the first wildcard for 2006 will be announced.

There are total four wildcards or jokers waiting to be revealed by Swedish broadcaster (SVT). After tonights television special there are only three names left. As esctoday.com earlier reported Charlotte Perelli and Magnus Carlsson are likely to be two of the wildcards.

Earlier Christer Björkman, producer and artist responsible at SVT have told media the following about the wildcard that is going to be revealed tonight: Its someone that have had success on the charts over Europe. But Björkman has also said that since there are so many known names and also wide variety of different genres already in the line-up for Melodifestivalen 2006 we can also give the wildcards to rather unknown artist's.

Other names rumoured and speculated about are the international successful artist Arash and the groups Bodies Without Organs and The Ark. But as usual, SVT might have a lot of surprises in stock. So in any case the announcement of the first wildcard in Melodifestivalen is ought to become an exciting event!

The program is called Melodifestivalen – Från Las Vegas till Leksand and is broadcast on SVT 1 at 21.00 CET.

The remaining four spots, the so-called wildcards or jokers are directly chosen by SVT as a way to broaden the line-up. Its supposed to be given to songs and artists in different genres that are felt to be missing after the jury has selected the 28 first songs for competition in Melodifestivalen.
