Artists in second Norwegian semifinal revealed

This evening Norwegian broadcaster (NRK) announced the participants in the second semifinal of the Norwegian selection Melodi Grand Prix 2006. The line-up in the second semifinal is a mix of debutantes and Melodi Grand Prix veterans. Hanne Haugsand from group Charmed and Marit Strømøy from group Blissed returns. Another entry is the group Queentastic (pictured) with the song Absolutely Fabulous.

Group Queentastic has existed for about a year and consists of Geir Lillejord and Dean Erik Andersen. Geir have had his own television show in Norway and is a popular actor and dragshow artist. For Dean Erik Anderesen this is a Melodi Grand Prix debut. Their song –Absolutely Fabulous and their exciting outfit promises a joyful celebration of the popular BBC comedy series with the same name.

Ovi Martin is from Romania but has lived in Norway for ten years. Ovi is making his Melodi Grand Prix debut this year. Also debuting is Jannicke Abrahamsen, a musical artist and ballet dancer and on NRK website introduced as a great fan of Swedish Carola.

Former group members trying on their own

Hanne Haugsand returns. She was one of the member of group Charmed that competed for Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 and finished at 11th place with their entry My Heart Goes Boom.

Marit Strømøy returns once again. Marit was a member of the group Blissed that participated in Melodi Grand Prix earlier this year. Hans-Petter Moen and Kim Arne Hagen are also two veterans. As members of group Cheezy Keys they have participated this year and also made a quite remembered interval act for Melodi Grand Prix 2003.

The second semifinal takes place in the village of Bodø on the 20th January. Melodi Grand Prix 2006 consists of three semifinals, a second chance round and a final on the 4th February.

The participants in the third semifinal, will be revealed by NRK on 2nd January. The participants in the first Norwegian semifinal can be found here. Thanks to Wig Wams success and 9th place in the final in the Eurovision Song Contest this year with the song In My Dreams Norway is directly qualified for the final in Athens the 20th of May.
