Another name has been added to the list of the Malta Song for Europe 2006 finalists. Fabrizio Faniello's sister, Claudia Faniello, was chosen by songwriters Ray Agius and Godwin Sant to replace Olivia Lewis in her second entry, High Alert!. In the second phase, Claudia Faniello sang Treasure Island by the same songwriting team.

After last Saturdays second eliminations, which took place at the Golden Tulip Vivaldi Hotel in St. Julians, the MaltaSong Board notifies that, the song Turn Another Page by Paul Giordimania and Fleur Balzan was withdrawn from the competition. The song Stronger by Charlene Grima and Deo Grech has now proceeded to the final night.

As indicated in the selection of the 18 final songs the composers and authors of the songs Amazing and High Alert! also had the chance to either find another singer from the pool of singers who participated in the second phase of the eliminatory process or to withdraw such songs from the final. The composers and authors of these two songs choose to change the respective singers, hence the song Amazing by Philip Vella and Gerard James Borg will be interpreted by AnnaBelle. The song High Alert! by Ray Agius and Godwin Sant will be interpreted by Claudia Faniello.

The 10 finalists of the Opportunity 2 contest will be announced next week. Then on Saturday 7th January the finals, to choose the last 2 contestants, will take place live during the TV programme ShowTime ma Aceline.

The MaltaSong Board wishes to thank all composers, authors and singers who submitted songs to participate in this years festival, the jury members and UKAM (the Union of the Maltese authors, composers and singers) who offered their services for the 1st and 2nd phase processes of the eliminatory sessions.
