The Albanian Festival i Kenges most likely takes place from 16th to 18th December. Almost traditionally, the Albanian representative for the Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen during the festival. Broadcaster RTVSH announced that.

RTVSH launched the 2005 competition, in which the 2006 representative for the Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen, this week. They have appealed for a wider range of songs, encouraging potential contestants to come up with a wider range of music and try not to focus too strongly on what might be seen as “a typical Eurovision Song Contest song”.

One name already tipped to take part is Miriam Cani (photo), who has enjoyed some chart success in Germany. She has already said in an interview that she hopes to enter the competition either solo or with her group the Preluders.

2006 will be the third time Albania participates in the Eurovision Song Contest. Due to the country's disappointing result, the third representative has to go through the semifinal in Athens, on 18th May.
