Yesterday, ERT gathered its preliminary jury at the ERT head quarters in order to select the 10 junior participants out of 104 valid submitted entries. The preliminary jury said that the songs they heard were good and they all were “impressed over the level of the creations”.

1. Christina Petrogianni (14) – Epitelous peto
2. Alexandros Chountas (15) Kalli Georgelli* (13) – Tora ine i sira mas
3. Dimitra Tzanakaki (14) – Oso zo
4. Caroline Tatara (14) – Mia istoria
5. Marina Chelmi (12) – Vrochi apo astra
6. Rafaella, Nafsika, Akrivi & Constantinos (11) – Choros
7. Nikolas Linaritakis-Liodakis (13) – Itan oniro
8. Maria Paraponiari (12) – Harry Potter
9. Vasiliki, Ermelina, Marina & Aurora (12) – To proto skirtima
10. Marianna Malantzi (11) – Matia paidika

Two problems might arise regarding the selected participants Kalli Georgelli also participated last year in the junior selection, which is a professional public performance. According to the rules of the contest, the participating children are not supposed to be experienced. A second problem might occur with the song Harry Potter, as the song title is not just the name of a book character, but also a registered trade mark.

National selection
Gavala Lilika of ERT revealed that the Greek national selection for the 2005 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take place on 30th September or 1st October. The selection will take place in one of the ERT studios, hosted by Maria Spiridaki (Miss Greece 2005), who will also commentate the contest in Hasselt (Belgium) on 26 November.

The outcome will be decided by 60% televoting/sms and 40% jury. On the 23rd of September, ERT will host a party in a beach club, where a press conference will take place to present the artists and announce the final date for the selection.
