146 entries were submitted for the Maltese Selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The Maltese final is going to be held on Saturday 24th September 2005 at Sir Temi Zammit Hall at Tal-Qroqq.

During the press conference, Ms. Grace Borg, chairperson of the Maltasong Board declared that the board was satisfied with the record number of entries that were submitted for this year's selection.

The 146 entries will be judged by a first panel of juries on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th August. 60 entries will go through to the second phase. On 3rd September, a different panel of juries will judge the 60 entries on their live performance. The public will not have access to this phase as it will be held behind closed doors. 16 finalists will make it from this round on to the junior national final to be held on Saturday 24th September. The final will have a live broadcast on TVM and streamed live on di-ve.com.

Sarah Harrison represented Malta in the first edition of the Junior Eurovision 2003 with “Like a star” while the Young Talent Team represented Malta in the second edition of 2004 with “Power of a song”.
