Just before rehearsals, yesterday, for the Irish National Final, The late late show, Eurosong 2013, Robin Scott was one of the few members of the Press invited to meet the finalists.

After a photoshoot in the studio the following interviews took place

Inchequin

Aimée with mentor Mark McCabe

Zoë Alexis Bohorquez with mentor Niall Mooney

Kasey with her Mentor Mairead Farrell

Ryan Dolan

Unfortunately we have had technical problems showing our interview with Ryan Dolan.

Ryan came across as a little quieter than expected but maybe this was simply because there was the anticipation of him being the first artist to rehearse on the Late late show set a few minutes later.

He is charming to chat to and really focused on the job in hand.

His current day-to-day routine is quite regimented with practice and more practice, but he said that his fitness regime is very important to him. If he is in shape then he will perform better and be at the top of his game.

We talked about his thoughts of possibly going to Eurovision and what it would do to his life. With this in mind I also mentioned that one of his supporters is former Irish winner, Linda Martin, who sang Why me in 1992 co-incidentally in Malmö.

He said that they have discussed Eurovision but agreed with me that everyone’s experience will be different. He doesn’t appear daunted by the possibility and seems to have a wise head on his shoulders.

He knows that a lot of people are tipping him to win but when asked what his thoughts were he simply said that he was there to do his best.

Thanks to Ryan and apologies for not being able to show the interview.

I attended my first Eurovision Song Contest in 1995, and from 1996 presented daily live reports for radio stations from the event. Since then I have been providing material from everywhere the contest has been held. I also enjoy compiling most of the video materials for three UK ESC events each year. In 2010 I first provided material for esctoday.com.
