A couple of days before departing for the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Chiara attended a hearty farewell event in St Julians. Present for the event were her family members, closest friends, fans, members of the Maltese delegation for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, press members and singers from Malta Song for Europe 2005.
During the same event Chiara was asked to leave her hand print in the newly launched Celebrity Street, a new section at Baystreet which will have the hand prints of celebrities in a typical Hollywood Style.
Time was up for Chiara to do the much awaited-speech. She thanked all her fans and all those who stayed by her side for all the support she needed. The speech turned emotional when Chiara pleaded for people to pray for her.
“Please pray for me and my voice. It has gone through a lot of strain and is not at its best. At the moment I'm very tired and let down because of all this. I'm adviced to relax or else I won't be ready by the time I arrive in Kyiv. I don't want to disappoint anyone but am confident that thanks to your prayers my voice will gain its full strength by next week“, remarked Chiara to a worried audience. Her words were confirmed when she decided to perform her Eurovision Song Contest entry Angel at full playback instead of singing it live.
Chiara will be leaving for Kyiv this Saturday at 03:10 CET. She will arrive in Ukraine's capital around midnight of the same day.
