Leading esctoday.com's BigPoll 2005, Icelandic representative Selma can be considered as one of the favourites for a qualification to the final and winning the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest. Icelandic broadcaster RUV published an audio interview with Selma.
In the interview, entirely in English, Selma talks about her second participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Looking back at her first participation in Jerusalem 1999 and looking forward to Kyiv 2005, Selma explains how she was chosen to represent Iceland and how she selected the song If I had your love.
Furthermore Selma elaborates on her act for Kyiv, which is said to be 90% ready. Selma will be accompanied by four dancers and backing vocalist Regína Ósk, who also was a backing vocalist for Two Tricky's Angel in 2001 and Birgitta's Open your heart in 2003.
Selma sees the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest as a tough competition in which many countries will be going for a similar performance with dancers on stage. “It wouldn't surprise me if something completely different would win this year,” she says. “For example Norway or Malta, or even the Netherlands.”
