Lara Fabian conquers Russia

Lara Fabian, the 1988 Luxembourgeois representative, has conquered Russia with her beautiful voice. She performed at the Pesnya Goda 2012 festival last month in Moscow. The Belgian born singer is among the most sought after singers in Russia today, where she enjoys great success and fame.

Lara Fabian was born in Belgium and currently resides in Quebec, Canada but travels very often to Russia, a country which she considers as her second home. Eurovision fans will be familiar with her as she represented Luxembourg at the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin with her entry Croire, placing 4th. She competed at the Eurovision Song Contest the very same year Celine Dion won the event with Ne partez pas sans moi, today the two former Eurovision artists are internationally acclaimed stars.

Pesnya Goda 2012 (Song of the Year 2012) festival was held on 1 December at the Moscow Olympic Stadium in Moscow last year. This is an annual event that is held every December and aired on television during the first days of the new year. Many former Eurovision artists participated in the last edition: Dima Bilan( Russia 2006, 2008), Yulia Savicheva (Russia 2004), Alsou ( Russia 2000), Ani Lorak ( Ukraine 2008), Verka Serduchka ( Ukraine 2007). Famous russian acts such as Sergey Lazarev, Valeria, DJ Timati, etc. also graced the stage.

Lara Fabian performed Je t’aime encore and was accompanied on the stage by famous Russian musician by Igor Krytoy who played the piano. Lara has release many albums and singles and has a great career behind her. Most of her songs have been massive hits in Russia and neighbouring Ukraine. In early 2012 she release a special dvd, cd and book Madamoiselle Zhivago.
