MTVA, the Hungarian national broadcaster has announced that the 2013 Hungarian Eurovision national selection A Dal will consist of a total of 6 shows (3 heats, 2 semi-finals and the grand final). The heats are scheduled to be held on 2,9 and 16 February, whilst the semi-finals are scheduled for the 23 and 24 of February. The grand finale will take place on 2 March.

Magdi Rusza will be the 5th jury member of A Dal. Magdi represented Hungary at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki. She will be joined by Csaba Walkó, Philip Rákay, Jenő Csiszár, Viktor Rakonczai  on the jury panel.

MTV has received a total of 240 songs, the broadcaster will now shortlist them to 30. A total of 30 entries/acts will fight for the golden ticket to Malmö. 10 songs will compete in each semifinal. The special jury will shorlist the songs from 10 to 4 in the grand final and the public will decide the winner via televoting.

Hungary debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 with Frederika Bayer, and is yet to win the event. The country’s best placing at the contest was when they debuted in 1994 with Frederika’s Kinek mondjam el vétkeimet?, placing 4th.
