Ani Lorak, the 2008 Ukrainian representative was awarded a Golden Gramophone Award for her song  Обними меня крепче ( Hold me Closer). Ani Lorak represented Ukraine at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade with her entry Shady Lady, achieving an honourable 2nd place, just behind Russia’s Dima Bilan.

The 2012 Golden Gramohone Awards were held at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow.  The show was hosted by famous Russian tv host and presenter Ivan Urgant. Ivan will be familiar with Eurovision fans as he co hosted the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with Alsou ( Russia 2000).The creme of the Russian music industry graced the occasion: Nikolai Baskov, Vera Brezhne, Nyusha, Philip Kirkorov and Polina Gagarina to mentiona a few.  Top fashion designer Karim Rashid flew in specially for the event in order to give Ani Lorak the award.

Ani Lorak enjoys fame, name and recognition not only at home in Ukraine but also in neighbouring Russia, where today she is among the most sought after female artists.
