IBA, the Israeli national broadcaster has revealed to esctoday.com more information and details regarding 2013 Israeli Eurovision national selection, Kdam Eurovision 2013.
IBA has informed esctoday.com that the 2013 Kdam Eurovision selection will consist of a total of 5 shows (3 heats, 1 second chance show, the grand final). A total of 30 acts /songs will battle for the golden ticket to Malmö. Esctoday.com has learned that the Israeli broadcaster will invite artists and composers wishing to compete in the selection to submit their applications as of next week. The 2013 Kdam Eurovision selection will kick off on February 26 culminating in the grand finale on March 7.
The concept:
A total of 30 acts will compete in the 3 qualification heat shows ( 10 acts in each show), 3 will qualify directly for the final and 2 will go to the Second Chance Show. A total of 6 acts will compete in the Second Chance Show : 3 duels ( where 2 acts will battle against each another), the 3 winning acts will then compete against each another, the ultimate winner will qualify for the the 2013 Kdam Eurovision final. Hence a total of 10 acts will battle for the golden ticket to Malmö, in the final. The 2013 Israeli entry and representative will be chosen via a 30 % Special Committee/70 % Public SMS deliberation.

Israel debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1973 with Ilanit and has won the competion 3 times (1977 with Yizhar Cohen and Alpha Beta, 1979 with Gali Atari and Milk & Honey, and in 1998 with Dana International). Israel has hosted the event twice in 1979, 1999 in Jerusalem.
