Record companies shocked by TVE's choice

Spanish record companies have reacted astonished over the choice of the participants for the Spanish national final. Spanish broadcaster TVE has selected 12 almost unknown talents to compete, to represent Spain in Kiev. Among the entries not selected are Andermay, authors of Beth's Dime.

The Spanish record companies esctoday.com has contacted, do not understand TVE's choice. “We are a little bit shocked with the line-up of the final,” it sounds. “TVE has decided to make its own selection among unknown artists, instead of the artists the record labels have presented.

Whether TVE's selection policy can be justified will only become clear on 4th March when the Spanish national final takes place. “We don't really know TVE's intentions very well,” one of the record companies reacted, “so we will see how they will develop this.

Among the more popular artists that have not been selected are Andermay. The Spanish duo wrote several songs for Operación Triunfo, including Spain's Eurovision Song Contest entry in 2003 Dime, performed by Beth. Andermay also scored some hits themselves such as Un juego de dos.
