RTSH, the Albanian national broadcaster has informed Esctoday.com that the date for composers to submit their entries for the 2013 Albanian Eurovision national selection has been extended until the 22nd of October. The winner of the 2012 Festivali i Këngës edition will win the golden ticket to Malmö, and hence have the honour of representing Albania at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest.

RTSH has informed Esctoday.com that the broadcaster has  received around 40 entries so far, consequently due to the  request of composers who need more time to submit their entries, the deadline has been extended to the 22nd of October. The 2012 Edition of Festivali i Këngës is scheduled to be held between the 20th- 22nd of December at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana as every year.

RTSH will be revealing more details regarding the 2012 Festivali i Këngës in due course. Albania debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 with Anjeza Shahini’s The Image of You. Albania is yet to win the event, the country’s best placing at the Eurovision Song Contest was in 2012 with Ronna Nishliu’s Suus, which achieved a 5th placing.
