Jill Johnson to host, Carola a wildcard?

No day passes by without the Swedish newspapers reporting about Melodifestivalen 2005. Aftonbladet claims to know that Jill Johnson and Markoolio are two of the ten stars to host the Swedish national Eurovision Song Contest selections.

Aftonbladet reports that SVT has chosen to use the format of 2000 once again, when ten different hosts showed up at Melodifestivalen. A couple of two hosts would present each semifinal and the final. Jill Johnson, who represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998 with Kärleken är and recently became a mother, is said to be one of the futur hosts. The Swedish/Finnish rap artist Markoolio would also make his appearance as one of the ten hosts.

SVT does not want to confirm anything and Thomas Hall (SVT) says he will not comment anything before the press conference, scheduled after New Year, has taken place.

Aftonbladet of course also has an opinion about who have been given the wildcards, the so called jokers and announces Carola, winner of the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest with Fångad av en stormvind, Jerry Williams, an old rock artist and Alcazar as three of the four wildcards.

Whether Aftonbladet's announcements can be trusted is another question. Some days ago Magnus Carlsson of Alcazar informed esctoday.com about their intentions to participate in the British national final. Alcazar is awaiting the right song written by a British composer to make a bid to representing the United Kingdom at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest.
