Greece: Tonight's EuroStar postponed

The first live broadcast of EuroStar, the talent show that will select the Greek performer in Istanbul, had to be cancelled tonight due to severe weather conditions in the country.

EuroStar was due to enter its semi-final phase tonight, where 9 contestants will be narrowed down to 3 finalists. Apostolos Psyhramis, Chrysanthi Mihalopoulou and Thanos Papaioannou would compete against each other for a place in the final. However, ERT, the Greek broadcaster, had to cancel the live show on the grounds that, due to unprecedented weather conditions in Athens, access to its studios could prove hazardous.

For the second day running, heavy snowfalls, strong winds and record-breaking low temperatures have been afflicting Greece, from the province of Macedonia down to the island of Crete. The severe weather has caused major disruptions in the transport network of the country, whereas the public have been officially warned to limit their travels to a minimum.

The scheduling of EuroStar has been subject to various changes so far. It was initially the announcement of general elections in the country that forced ERT to rearrange its programme timetables. This has prevented the show from having a steady audience and satisfactory viewing ratings.

Esctoday.com will inform you about the rescheduling of the program as soon as this is made known by the Greek broadcaster.
