Festival da Canção 2027 set for March 6
RTP has confirmed that Festival da Canção 2027 will take place on Saturday, March 6th, 2027. This marks a notable change from previous years, as the competition will consist of just one grand show, with the semi-final rounds being scrapped. A total of 16 songs will compete for the coveted opportunity to represent Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027.
New open submission process and voting details
In another exciting development, RTP is introducing a fully open song submission process for Festival da Canção 2027. The submission window is scheduled to open on November 1st, 2026, and will close on November 30th, 2026. This change allows all citizens of Portuguese nationality or residents in Portugal, including those living abroad, to submit their original compositions.
The winner of Festival da Canção 2027 will be determined by a combination of public voting and regional juries. The results will be split 50% from televoting and 50% from seven regional juries. The entries are expected to be officially released to the public in January 2027.
Portugal will be participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, which is set to take place in Burgas, Bulgaria.
