Australia’s broadcaster, SBS, has officially announced its plans for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. The nation will once again opt for an internal selection process to choose its representative for the prestigious competition.

Internal Selection Confirmed for 2027

SBS, the Australian national broadcaster, confirms that it will continue with an internal selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. This marks a return to the method used for several of Australia’s past successful entries, entrusting a panel of experts to find the perfect artist and song to represent the country on the international stage.

Song Submission Window Opens Soon

Artists and songwriters hoping to represent Australia in Eurovision 2027 should prepare their entries, as the song submission window is set to open very soon. Submissions will be accepted starting on Thursday, 17th October.

The window for submissions will remain open for three weeks, closing on Thursday, 7th November. This gives hopefuls a dedicated period to submit their original songs for consideration by SBS’s internal selection committee.

SBS’ press release reads:

Now, SBS are searching for what comes next. SBS is looking for distinctive, contemporary songs ready to connect with people on one of the world’s biggest music stages.

SBS is bringing back the SBS Song Portal for Eurovision 2027, inviting artists to register their interest in representing Australia and songwriters to submit an original song for consideration.

The SBS Song Portal will be open from Saturday 17 October to Saturday 7 November 2026.

Australia’s entry for Eurovision 2027 will be chosen through an internal SBS selection process.

Submitting a song or registering interest through the portal does not guarantee selection.
