Bulgaria’s Eurovision Song Contest 2026 winner, Darina Yotova, known professionally as DARA, has been bestowed with the prestigious title of ‘Honorary Citizen of Sofia’. This significant recognition celebrates her immense contributions to Bulgarian music and her historic achievement on the international stage at the Eurovision Song Contest.

The Sofia City Council recently held a ceremonial session where they officially awarded DARA the esteemed title of ‘Honorary Citizen of Sofia’. This honour acknowledges her profound impact on contemporary Bulgarian culture and her role in promoting both Sofia and Bulgaria to a global audience.

DARA told the Mayor of Burgas:

Ten years ago, I came here, and all I can say is that Sofia is a city of dreams. Thank you for taking care of this city, and I hope you will continue to do so, because culture needs you. My fellow artists and I need your support.

Beyond her Eurovision success, DARA has established herself as a leading figure in the Bulgarian and Balkan pop scene, known for her chart-topping hits, strong stage presence, and international vision. Her career includes numerous awards, sold-out concerts, and a massive fanbase.
