Burgas confirmed as Eurovision 2027 host city
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Bulgarian National Television (BNT) have officially confirmed that Burgas, the vibrant Black Sea city, will be the proud host of the 71st Eurovision Song Contest. This announcement follows Bulgaria’s triumphant win at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna, where Dara captivated audiences with her song ‘Bangaranga’, securing the country’s first-ever victory.
President Iliana Iotova expressed her delight and congratulated the people of Burgas on this prestigious achievement. She highlighted the city’s potential and the nation’s ambition to host a spectacular event.

We have an incredible chance to show the proverbial Bulgarian hospitality, to introduce guests to the cultural and historical traditions of the city and the country and to attract them as active tourists on the Black Sea coast. Burgas has long-standing musical traditions, is the birthplace of some of our best artists and hosts emblematic competitions such as “Burgas and the Sea”, and now also “Eurovision”.
Miracles come with the love for the Bulgarian sea and the native coast! I believe that next year, dozens of visiting performers and thousands of music lovers will leave with this love. They will fly away from here with Toni Dimitrova’s sigh “Ah, the sea” and with warm memories of the “Burgas Evenings”, sung by “Familia Tonika”. Let the people of Burgas be proud of their wonderful city and realize in the best way the opportunity to host Europe!
The Road to Hosting: A Competitive Selection Process
The journey to selecting Burgas as the host city involved a rigorous bidding process. Initially, four Bulgarian cities – Burgas, Plovdiv, Sofia, and Varna – expressed their interest in hosting the international event. After a thorough evaluation by BNT and EBU representatives, the shortlist was narrowed down to Burgas and the capital, Sofia.
Ultimately, Burgas was chosen due to its strong bid, which impressed the organisers with its accommodation capacity, venue potential, and a compelling vision to transform the city for the contest.
Dates and Venue Confirmed
The Eurovision Song Contest 2027 is set to take place at the modern Arena Burgas. The semi-finals are scheduled for Tuesday, 11th May, and Thursday, 13th May, leading up to the Grand Final on Saturday, 15th May 2027. Arena Burgas, which opened in 2023, boasts a seating capacity of up to 12,000 spectators and is well-equipped to host a major international event of this scale.
