Latvian Public Media (LSM) has officially confirmed its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 and will once again use its popular national selection show, Supernova, to choose its representative. Exciting news for aspiring artists as the song submission window for Supernova 2027 is set to open in August 2026, with the grand final slated to take place at the impressive Xiaomi Arena in Riga.
Latvia is gearing up for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, with its national broadcaster, LSM, announcing the return of the beloved national selection format, Supernova. The competition, which has been instrumental in selecting Latvia’s Eurovision entries since 2015, excluding 2021, promises another exciting season for fans and artists alike.
LSM, the Latvian national broadcaster has published the rules and regulations for Supernova 2027.
Agnese Štrause-Kubliņa(Head of Entertainment and Documentary Content at LTV ) says:
“Supernova” is the beginning of the road to the big Eurovision stage, and in 2027 we will start this road even more ambitiously – at the “Xiaomi Arena”! It will be a real music festival with magnificent surprises and special musical guests. For artists, it is a great opportunity to perform their song in front of such a large audience, and for spectators in the arena – to see behind the scenes of the show and feel the energy of music in person.

Song Submissions Commence in August
Artists and songwriters eager to represent Latvia on the grand Eurovision stage should mark their calendars. The submission period for entries to Supernova 2027 is scheduled to commence in August 2026. This early opening provides ample time for potential participants to craft and refine their entries, hoping to capture the hearts of both the national jury and the Latvian public.
The song submission window for Supernova 2027 will run from 1st August-1st October 2026. Whilst the Grand Final of Supernova is scheduled to be held on February 6th in Riga.
A special jury will evaluate all the submitted entries and will whittle down the finalists, which will be announced in November.
Grand Final at Xiaomi Arena, Riga
In a significant development, the grand final of Supernova 2027 will be hosted at the state-of-the-art Xiaomi Arena in Riga. This prominent indoor arena, formerly known as Arena Riga, was rebranded in 2025 following a partnership agreement. With a capacity of up to 14,500 for concerts, the venue is well-equipped to host a spectacular show, providing a grand stage for the finalists to perform and for the nation to choose its next Eurovision hopeful. The Xiaomi Arena is a well-known venue in Riga, primarily used for ice hockey, basketball, and concerts.
The Supernova 2026 Grand Final will consist of two stages: the Final and the Super Final: During the Final the competing acts will compete for three spots in the Super Final. The top three acts after a combined international jury/ audience deliberation will battle for the golden ticket to Eurovision 2027 at the Super Final. The 2027 Latvian Eurovision act and entry will be derermined via solely via an audience deliberation.
Latvia has a rich history in the Eurovision Song Contest, debuting in 2000 and achieving a victory in 2002 with Marie N’s ‘I Wanna’. The nation looks forward to another successful campaign with Supernova 2027.
