ORF, the Austrian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Austria will compete at the forthcoming 2027 Eurovision Song Contest in Bulgaria.

Hence Austria joins the list of countries who have so far confirmed their participation at the upcoming 2027 Eurovision edition.

Austria will be reverting to an internal selection for 2027 as has been the case in recent years. ORF has already started scouting for the potential Austrian Eurovision 2027 act.

Cesár Sampson (Eurovision 2018) and Peter Schreiber have kicked of their search for the potential Austrian Eurovision 2027 candidates. They will be responsible to scout the potential candidates for ESC 2027. A special jury will evaluate all the submitted applications and songs in autumn, herefater ORF is expected to unveil the 2027 Austrian Eurovision act by late 2026/ early 2027.

Austria in Eurovision

Austria debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 and has won the competition thrice with Udo Jurgens (1966) Conchita Wurst (2014) and JJ (2025).  The country has participated 58 times in the contest and hosted the event thrice in its majestic capital Vienna (1967, 2015).

In 2026 Cosmo represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest on home soil with his entry ‘Tanzchein‘.
