Welsh music icon and Eurovision star Bonnie Tyler has reportedly emerged from an induced coma, following emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal. Her management team confirmed the news on June 15, stating that while she is now awake, her condition remains ‘very unwell’ and she is currently in intensive care.

Fans around the world have been sending their well wishes to Bonnie Tyler, who represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013. The ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ singer was hospitalised in Portugal in early May after suffering a tear in her bowel, which required emergency surgery. Following the procedure, she was placed in an induced coma to aid her recovery.
Her management team provided an update, confirming that Bonnie is no longer in a coma but remains in intensive care. While her condition is improving, her recovery is expected to be a slow process. Doctors are optimistic about her long-term recovery but have indicated it will take time.
The news comes shortly after Tyler celebrated her 75th birthday on June 8, while still receiving treatment in hospital. Her team has expressed gratitude for the immense outpouring of love and support from fans globally, assuring them that Bonnie is aware of and very thankful for their good wishes.
Due to her ongoing recovery, all of Bonnie Tyler’s scheduled performances until the end of August have been cancelled or postponed. Her team hopes that planned autumn shows will still proceed. They have also urged the public to disregard rumours and speculation circulating on social media, advising fans to rely only on Bonnie Tyler’s official institutional channels for reliable updates.

Bonnie’s family and team would like to update everyone on how she is progressing with her recovery.
Bonnie is no longer in a coma but remains very unwell and in intensive care in hospital in Portugal. Although her condition is improving it is a slow process. Her doctors remain confident that she will make a good recovery but it is going to take time.
As such we are sorry to tell everyone that we will be cancelling, or postponing until next year where possible, all of our remaining shows this summer. This will affect every current show until the end of August. At present we are still hopeful that our shows in the autumn will go ahead.
We apologise to all of Bonnie’s fans and to our promoter partners for the disappointment that this will cause but trust that you will understand and bear with us in these difficult circumstances. We hope to see you next year instead.
