Bulgarian National Television (BNT) will soon unveil the requirements for the host city of the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. Director General Milena Milotinova confirmed that the criteria will be announced in the coming weeks, with a specific city yet to be named.
Following Bulgaria’s historic victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with DARA and her song ‘Bangaranga’, the focus has now shifted to the preparations for hosting the 2027 event. Milena Milotinova, the Director General of BNT, has stated that while it is too early to reveal the chosen host city, the broadcaster is actively working on the detailed requirements.
Speaking to journalists at the Council of Ministers, Milotinova indicated that the official announcement regarding the host city requirements will take place either next week or the week after. This crucial step will outline the expectations from potential candidate cities, which include factors such as venue suitability, infrastructure, and logistical capabilities.
One of the key requirements for the host city is to have a suitable venue with the capacity of of accomdating at least 10,000 spectators along with areas and infrastructure to house the Media Centre, Delegation Bubble and Production Area. The host city should also have an excellent transport network, an international airport with international flight to most European capitals and a great hotel room capacity.

BNT is meticulously reviewing the extensive guidelines provided by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), often referred to as the ‘Eurovision Bible’, which is reportedly over 200 pages long. Milotinova emphasised the need for thorough preparation to ensure Bulgaria delivers a high-quality event. Several Bulgarian cities, including Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, and Varna, have already expressed their keen interest in hosting the prestigious contest.
The 2027 Eurovision host city will be deliberated by BNT in coordination witht the EBU.
