Following her triumphant victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, Bulgarian sensation DARA is set to receive a significant honour in her home country. The Chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council, Tsvetomir Petrov, has officially proposed that DARA be awarded the prestigious title of Honorary Citizen of Sofia.

Tsvetomir Petrov, the head of the capital’s municipal governing body, has formally nominated DARA for the esteemed title of Honorary Citizen of Sofia. DARA’s victory is a huge chance for us as a capital to host Eurovision 2027, which also coincides with the 20th anniversary of Bulgaria’s accession to the European Union.
Undoubtedly, this will be a great celebration for which we as a municipality must prepare and work actively with all institutions. This will also be an opportunity for our city – to welcome tens of thousands of tourists and delegations who will support local business, the hotel and restaurant industry. Investments and modernization will leave a lasting mark on the urban environment of Sofia and last but not least – millions of viewers in front of the screens will get acquainted with the rich cultural and historical heritage of our capital.
