DARA’s Eurovision 2026 Victory Celebrated in Sofia

Bulgaria is buzzing with excitement after DARA’s incredible win at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. The artist, who captivated audiences across Europe with her powerful performance, has brought immense pride to her nation. In recognition of her outstanding achievement, a special proposal has been put forward by the Chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council.

Tsvetomir Petrov, the head of the capital’s municipal governing body, has formally nominated DARA for the esteemed title of Honorary Citizen of Sofia. This honour is typically bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contributions to the city or have achieved international recognition that reflects positively on Sofia.

Tsvetomir Petrov  says:

This recognition is fully deserved, given the exceptional contribution of DARA and the entire team to our contemporary culture, the enrichment of musical life in our country and their huge role in raising the international prestige of the capital and our country. DARA’s victory is a huge chance for us as a capital to host Eurovision 2027, which also coincides with the 20th anniversary of Bulgaria’s accession to the European Union.

Undoubtedly, this will be a great celebration for which we as a municipality must prepare and work actively with all institutions. This will also be an opportunity for our city – to welcome tens of thousands of tourists and delegations who will support local business, the hotel and restaurant industry. Investments and modernization will leave a lasting mark on the urban environment of Sofia and last but not least – millions of viewers in front of the screens will get acquainted with the rich cultural and historical heritage of our capital.

I will not exaggerate if I say that all this is thanks to the talent, work and perseverance of DARA and “That’s why the least we can do for her is to thank her with this award”.

DARA’s victory at Eurovision 2026 marks a historic moment for Bulgaria, and the proposed honorary citizenship is a testament to the profound impact her success has had. The nomination highlights the city’s appreciation for her artistic talent and her role in elevating Bulgaria’s profile on the global stage. Further details regarding the official ceremony and the formal approval process are expected to be announced soon.
