This energetic display at Karlsplatz marks a significant step in the volunteers’ preparations for the upcoming contest. These dedicated individuals are diligently working towards earning their ‘Tanzschein‘ (dance certificate), a unique initiative designed to add an extra layer of vibrancy and engagement to their roles during Eurovision 2026.

The public performance not only served as a fun and engaging practice session but also generated excitement among the Viennese public, highlighting the city’s readiness to host Europe’s biggest music event. The Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is scheduled for May 16 at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, following Austria’s victory in the 2025 contest.

ORF’s press release reads:

On Tuesday at 5 p.m., some of the volunteers met in front of the Vienna Museum, which will become the Eurofan House next week. Wearing their yellow volunteer T-shirts, the group spread cheer and enthusiasm for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The flash mob was also a great opportunity to meet volunteers from other areas and exchange experiences with them. Like Gabriela and Susanna, two local volunteers who are already completely caught up in the “dance proficiency” craze:

“We really love the dance, it’s addictive, and the more people join in, the more fun it is. We think it’s great that so many people are participating today.”
