Vienna is set to transform into a vibrant hub of Eurovision festivities as the city prepares to host the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in May 2026. Beyond the main shows at the Wiener Stadthalle, a diverse and colourful programme of side events promises to immerse fans and visitors in the spirit of the contest across the Austrian capital and beyond.
Eurovision Village at Rathausplatz: The Heart of the Fan Experience
The iconic Rathausplatz (City Hall Square) will once again become the lively Eurovision Village, serving as the central gathering point for fans throughout the contest week. Open daily from Sunday, 10 May, to Sunday, 17 May, the Village offers a packed schedule of free entertainment. Visitors can look forward to live concerts featuring both current and former Eurovision participants, international DJs, a variety of food stands, and public screenings of all the Semi-Finals and the Grand Final.
The Eurovision Village will generally operate from 14:00 until midnight (or until the show concludes). However, on Thursday, 14 May, it will open earlier at 11:00 CEST, and on its final day, Sunday, 17 May, it will close at 19:00 CEST.
EuroClub at PraterDOME: Parties and Themed Nights
For those looking to dance the night away, the official EuroClub will be located at the PraterDOME, running from 11 May to 16 May. This traditional centre for Eurovision night events will host a variety of after-show parties, themed nights, and DJ sets. Tickets are required for EuroClub events.
A detailed schedule of themed nights has been confirmed:
- 11 May: Euro Club Opening Night
- 12 May: Euro Club Ice Night (White Party)
- 13 May: Euro Club Pink Night
- 14 May: Euro Club Carneval
- 15 May: Golden Years Party & Euro Justice Night
- 16 May: Euro Club Kids Disco & Euro Club Glitter Night
The six themed night events will be hosted by Eric Papilaya, who represented Austria at Eurovision.
Opening Ceremony and Turquoise Carpet
The official start to Eurovision week kicks off with the spectacular Opening Ceremony on Sunday, 10 May, in Vienna’s city centre. This event will feature the traditional Turquoise Carpet, where all 35 participating delegations will make their grand entrance, walking from the Burgtheater to Vienna City Hall. Live music, including performances by the Woodstock Allstar Band and the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra, will accompany the delegations.
City-Wide Celebrations and Beyond
The festive atmosphere extends across the entire city, with Vienna offering a wide array of activities such as exhibitions, special museum tours, and various fan actions. The celebrations are not confined to the capital, reaching as far as Krems an der Donau, ensuring that the Eurovision spirit is felt throughout the region.
Additionally, other cultural events like the Vienna Festival, the European Streetfood Festival, and the Flaniermarkt in Neubaugasse will coincide with Eurovision week, offering even more options for visitors.
As Vienna gears up for Eurovision 2026, the comprehensive schedule of side events promises an unforgettable experience for every fan, making the 70th edition a truly immersive celebration of music and unity.
